Day 110 - Dassel

Gethsemane Lutheran Church (formerly First Lutheran), 221 E. Atlantic Avenue (320-275-3852), was organized in 1873, and the present Gothic-style brick church with bell tower was built in 1886. The sanctuary has a raised canopied pulpit. A three-crown motif has been stenciled near the ceiling.

Seven and one-half miles north of Dassel is the small white-frame Swan Lutheran Church, built in 1899 by a congregation organized in 1873. Although the sanctuary was sold in the mid-1980s to a Finnish congregation, the old cemetery is owned by Gethsemane Lutheran in Dassel.
